Getting through to Anybody: Marriage Problems
Men and Women Cause their own Marriage Problems with their Fears
By MARK GOULSTON
A man without courage or competence is not a man; and deep down most men secretly fear they lack both. That's a marriage problem. That is why men go crazy if their wife flips off another driver, because now they think: "You've pissed off another guy and have started a fight that I'll have to finish," and they don't know whether they are prepared to take a bullet meant for their wife.
A woman without love or warmth is not a woman. Deep down most women secretly fear they lack both. That's a marriage problem. That is why it makes them nuts when they only feel numb or cold toward the immature and irresponsible man in their life and why it makes them terrified when they are unable to feel it toward their children.
