Getting a guy is all in a day’s work. Cosmo’s June issue has tips on “how to wow him on day one.” So don’t waste your time, follow these tips:
— Ask questions. Refrain from making your date the “me, me, me” show. A guy will be impressed if you show some interest in his life.
— Tell a secret. Even if it’s a non-secret secret (i.e. all of your friends are well aware of your irrational fear of heights), divulging a piece of your life will help make an instant connection.
— Own the awkwardness. In the face of an embarrassing situation, laugh. Or make a joke. Show that you’re able to embrace some embarrassing moments, rather than freak out.
— Bring up day two. Don’t wait on the guy to suggest a second date, subtly (or not so subtly) suggest you would like to see him again.
FUN FACT
When faced with a stressful interaction, men have a fight-or-flight area triggered in their brains, whereas women are triggered to nurture, according to the University of Pennsylvania, as reported in June’s Cosmopolitan.
PACK THESE
It’s all about being approachable, and according to June’s Cosmopolitan, there are some “Surprising items that bring boys to you.” So before you leave the house, grab one of these:
— Anything with wheels. Guys love a girl who get around with wheels: scooter, roller skates, skateboards.
— A crossword puzzle. Guys love a damsel in distress, so pretend like you’re really stuck for that one elusive answer and see if he can help you out.
— T-shirts that show your sense of humor. No surprises here, guys love tees with funny phrases or pictures.
— A weird drink. Stand out in a bar crowd by ordering a drink that is a sure conversation starter.
— A Kindle. “… it’s the technological equivalent of a puppy; Guys will want to hold and play with it.”
