Mental Health: After the Divorce, 4 Tips to Help You Accept the Change in your Life

By LINDA ROBERT

After your divorce, everything is different. Coping with a divorce can be difficult. You have to go so many things alone -- things you would have done with your spouse had you still been married. And it's going to take time to get through the change after your divorce and move on. I hope these few tips are what you are looking for, especially if things are just not the same for you lately.

1.  Accept things as being different.
You’ve lived your prior experiences for a reason. Perhaps you needed to learn something that will be useful in your new life. Perhaps there are new experiences waiting for you. Start accepting and explore this new difference.

2. Appreciate the newness of this difference.
Ok, so it’s different, but each new thing that you encounter will be unique simply because it is. In other words look at these new circumstances as something that’s great to know and to have, something that you can take with you as you move forward in your life.

3. Learn to love the difference.
Start discovering all the great things that this newness has to offer instead of thinking of how different it is.

4. Recognize that you are different.
With each passing day comes a new you. You’ve grown, you’ve moved forward and while there may be some resistance at the beginning, allow it to settle until you’re ready for your next move.
