What Happens To Divorce Custody Issues When There Isn't a Man Involved?

In a recent NOW conference, NOW representatives complained that there was a rising crisis for women and their children in divorce courts.  They explained that men, "use family court to stalk, harass, punish and impoverish their former partners and children." What happens in lesbian divorces where there isn't a man to "stalk, harass, punish and impoverish their former partners?"

It looks like much of the same.  In a split up, some lesbian mothers do all they can to drive their partner out of their children's lives.  This can be anything from moving the child to another country, to allegations of abuse.  Whatever it takes to eliminate custody of the other parent.

One couple filed for joint custody in Ohio, but when the relationship went bad, the birth mother used Ohio's anti-gay marriage laws to dissolve the custody agreement.

So is it women's fault? Are they causing others to "stalk, harass, punish and impoverish their former partners?" No, it's peoples fault. It's men. It's women.  It's anybody who's striking out against another because they've been hurt.

In the US you're correct.  They've been legal abroad, (Canada, UK, etc) for a few years, and we're just starting to see the data come back from that.  It's still to early to call a lot of things, like "Will same sex marriages out last traditional"  but we're seeing enough divorce worldwide to see how people act in court.   I clicked the source article here, and most of the original's sources seem to be Canadian.  Despite what we say here in California, I'm suspecting that Canadians are just like the rest of us.  It's just that some people are from Canada--Not that there's anything wrong with that.  ;)

Lesbian divorces aren't exactly running rampant.  Lesbian unions or 'marriages' are hardly common.  Less than 1% of the gay/lesbian community is indeed united in a civil union.
