well, if he is paying or not is irrelevant, all that matters is if there is another child support case with DCFS. All he has to do is be ordered to pay, not neessarily making the payments. The general breakdown for IL children is one child - 20% of gross pay after all deductions. Now, for you, since yours is the 2nd support order, you also get 20% BUT it is after all deductions INCLUDING the 20% for the first child and any medical he might have to pay for that child too. So if he doesn't really make that much to begin with, you end up screwed. You can contact child support enforcement and see if they can tell you if he has any outstanding support orders other than yours....

the best thing you can do is get educated on the subject. this site has more than enough information to get you a top notch education. read all you can of articles and expert columns...and read the blogs too. you can learn quite a bit here...and knowledge is power.
