Unfortunately, trust me, a lawyer WILL sue you if you don't pay your bill. So make arrangements, and if there is a payment you are going to be late on, or miss - don't avoid calling them and letting them know. It's all about keeping communication. As long as you don't look like you are shirking the bill, you won't wind up in civil court.

because if a divorce is filed they will allow it to be dealt with as far as restraining orders and no contact orders etc via the family court - if the divorce is not filed, then it will continue as a criminal case against you because it won't be "handled" in the other court.
