Btrain. I agree with Spaz, (whatever she says about anything I agree with her). She is the one with the training and the know how. I fully believe that you should retain your own atty. They are better qualified at looking out for your best interest. I also agree with Doots. I had a friend who got a divorce from her now ex husband and her atty told her that she wanted her to make sure that she had her head on straight while she was going through the divorce. No one knows the law better and is better qualified than an atty. Ask around see who people recommend. Like Spaz said you haven't been married that long so I don't think you have too much to worry about in the alimony area. My ex and I were married 33 yrs by the time the divorce was granted (I started divorce proceedings 6 months prior) and I got the maximum amount of time for someone to get maintenance (alimony) in our state. I also got some of his retirement from the postal service, and some of his military retirement. Good luck in obtaining an atty. I highly recommend it to everyone getting a divorce.

Btrain. Sounds like ya let things go on too long. But maybe this is an eye opener for you. It's tough when a investment goes down the drain. Look at the housing market. Now's your time to investigate. Yourself. What is at the root cause of your anger? Is it her, or something you are doing. By all means get a lawyer, but do get a therapist too. Calm down, get a level head, talk to the therapist.
