SNIP SNIP

Well - my stbxh just informed me that he has an appointment to get a vasectomy.  Isn't that sweet?  It's actually kind of humorous as we struggled with infertility for years prior to adopting our two children.  We both had reproductive issues - his being lack of enthusiastic sperm. : )

So why this sudden rush to get the boys snipped?  I think it's the fact that his girlfriend appears to be quite fertile AND it may have a little to so with the tiny bit of info I gave him.  I let him know that his financial obligation for a new child would end when he is 71!  He about fell off his chair when I said that.  It did give me such perverse pleasure to tell him that.  Kind of makes me laugh again right now if it wasn't so darn sad.

The mere thought of him getting someone pregnant and having a biological child with them would be more painful than any affair.  Our sons would be devastated and I would feel shattered.  I also admit from a financial standpoint that as soon as his relationship with the baby's mom ended and he had to pay child support - it could have an impact on my spousal support (if it hadn't ended by then) & I really don't want his new child to be the recipient of my many years with him.

So as soon as he returns from our son's graduation he is going in to have the "procedure".  As least he'll be out of commission for a few days!  : )

I know a couple of other divorced guys who are getting that procedure done.  I think its so there is no question that they don't want kids.  I had mine done years ago after my STBXWW had a second emergency C-Section.  It was my choice as I didn't want to take chances of her having to do that again.  I have two great kids and that is all I could ever ask for.

My STBXWW could still have kids and I hope she is very carefull.  Since she seems to have regressed to her teenage year (now has the same dreams of becoming a flight attendant and waitress) I hope she's more carefull.  She had two abortions when younger and can't have anymore.  Her having a child would be devastating to our kids as well I am sure.  But she might want one so someone will love her.
