If your ex dies..and you have been given considerable monthly support from the courts. Do you go after the estate? Or, is that it?

  • 37 years married
  • no support one year
  • 6 years in courts
  • one year of support
  • he blows all his investments
  • and gets fired
  • now has me in the courts to end support
  • if he dies
  • will I be able to receive support for his estate?

My divorce financial planner had my attorney put in our divorce that my stbxh must carry life insurance for twice the value of the entire spousal support pay out in case of his death.  So that way I am protected.  My stbxh was fine with that and agreed without hesitation.
