my ex (who neglects his kids) has a 'stop child neglect' license plate

he's also on the board of some child abuse/neglect organization.

is it guilt?

he tells me he can't come see his kids cuz he is super, crazy busy taking a bunch of children out to baseball games or concerts or parks.

when he does call his kids, he's usually at a bar or club or party, and he doesn't really listen to a word they say...and they know it...

so now they just say gibberish into the phone...like "yeah, we blippity blopped and diddly dooed"

and he says "oh, yeah, that sounds great."

then they roll their eyes and ask if they can hang up the phone now.

It is sad. He can't see it. Hopefully he will before it is too late and he loses them.
My bf's ex is kind of doing the same thing. She is going to run the kids off due to her being angry at him. I hope she sees it before they are gone too.

I would say that you have the pk syndrome going on. What is pk syndrome? It is otherwise known as preachers kis syndrome. Now...if you are a preachers kid please don't be offended.
Pk's tend to be a little harder to manage. Many times the pastor ( mom or dad) spends more time with his or her parishoners that their own kids get neglected. Many times that is why pk's tend to get wild. It is for their parents attention. I know many.
So he is devoting so much time to what he feels he is supposed to do that he fails to see what the need is that is right in front of his face. His own children. They see it and know it . He will pay for it- one day. Hopefully it won't be too late.
Now I also need to add that not all pk's are that way. There are pastors out there who have not done the above. So please don't be offended.
