Family Update

My son has been very, very sick. We’ve been dealing with Riley Hospital for children and it’s been a stressful time. He’s having stomach pain and has lost over 4 pounds. He hurts daily off and on and the Riley doctor won’t allow him any pain medicine, just Bentyl.

We have another appointment for a test Wednesday where they use some sort of x-ray to look at his intestines to see if there is a kink or twist in them. If this shows nothing, then on December 3 he has to be put under and they will explore stomach and intestines with a scope. I’m not looking forward to it. I don’t like for kids to be put completely out.

edit:  His doctor’s office called and his white blood cell count is off, so they want another blood test in two weeks.  This hospital is very expensive and the only insurance he has is his father’s.  I’m starting to get pretty scared of the leftover bills.
