4/30/08 - 1

 - Two days after learning my wife wants a divorce after 19 years I am a complete mess.  I have cried more in the past 2 days than in probably years.  I just asked if she was sure this is what she wants she said yes.  She claims she's been faking it for 5 years.  How could I have never seen it.  I'd like to believe it is not really happening or it was this long and it was just the affair still in her head.  But we are going to be divorced.  I have a good support group around me which helps but its all by phone.

She had the affair,  She says the affair is over but I'm not sure.  But she is sure she wants a divorce.  I've asked multiple times.  She can't look at me and answer it.  I'd like to think it was she doesn't want to deal with the hard work of getting over the affair.  She thinks I should just get over it and doesn't understand the hurt it caused.  But what I want really doesn't matter here I have to move forward.

I am so sorry you are hurting like this.  Who had the affair and is it still going on??

I would suggest continuing with a counselor for your own well being.  The breakup of a family is hard at best, it hurts.  Having a support system of family, friends and counseling will help you through some of the rough times.

Be good to yourself, tears are cleansing so let them flow.  Try to take one day at a time for right now.  Everything is still fresh, but time does help.

This community has been a Godsend for me, especially in the begining.  Please know that we are here to listen and care.

God bless.

She has always told friends and family how happy she was and they would tell me.  We had fights and disagreements but i thought we had a good relationship.  Friends tell me she is running from something as did our MC but not sure what.  I wish I could help her for her and not us.
