Losing Pounds with the Divorce Diet?

What is the strange phenomena where even petite women can claim to loose as much as 20 pounds in only 2 weeks? It's not the latest TV sales supplement or workout program. It's divorce, and almost 50 percent of all marriages end in serious weight loss.

Why? Well nobody is really sure.  Everybody has their theories.  Some doctors say it's stress related.  The very act of survival requires endless concentration.  Other's argue that it's more than simple calories in-calories out.  They suggest that something deeper happens.

Lona Sandon, assistant professor of clinical nutrition at UT Southwestern Medical Center, says it could be just a matter of better dieting. "If you start cooking for one, you have more control over what you eat," Ms. Sandon says. "Some women make healthier choices on their own. And if you're no longer rushing home to put dinner on the table, you don't have the time constraints of other people's needs."

Not everybody eats better. Some forget to eat altogether, or sustain themselves for a week on a handful of pretzels.  Not everybody loses weight either. There are those who search for comfort in food, and put on weight, but studies are showing they're really not the norm.

Whatever the reason, the weight loss seems assured.  The downside that everybody can agree on is that although the weight loss is almost assured, it's never easy.

I lost weight.  15 pounds but over a few months.

I eat whatever I want.

The whole time I was married the ex told me I was fat.

I gained and I gained.  Once we were all said and done the weight dropped off.  I consider the 'divorce diet' really a release of stress.  Since the ex was out of my life my stress was gone.
