it's the first day of school here. my daughter is starting a new school and it's all very exciting.
here's what i did:
- bought all of her new school supplies and labeled every one.
- set up two new lunch boxes (one is for snacks) and put her favorite foods in both.
- wrote little notes in each box for her.
- bought and prepared all of her new school clothes and had her pick the first day of school outfit last night.
- bought her a special lock and key diary for her first day.
- let her pick the music for our wake up alarm.
- made up a big sign last night that said 'happy first day of school'
- made her a 'whatever-you-desire' breakfast this morning.
- spent extra time giving her the 'you pick' hair style with special bows. (she picked braid...not easy for me).
- drew a little heart on her hand so she could look at it all day.
- took a million pictures.
- wrote her a 'first day of school' poem and put it on her bathroom mirror.
- drove her to school and introduced her to as many other little girls as possible.
- kissed her a trillion times before leaving.
here's what her father did:
- showed up for the first day of school, late....(first time ever..so i'm impressed).
- took pictures of her in the classroom.
- typed on his blackberry while i tried to talk to him about the school and the teachers.
