My dsl modem went out on me. At first, I thought it was just that the power cord had a short in it so I went to "The Store That Shall Not Be Named" and picked up a replacement.
Silly me, I thought I could get one for five bucks or so. It cost thirteen Freakin' dollars. And it wasn't the problem. I weighed the situation, cut my losses with dsl internet from my phone company partnered with a big web conglomerate, and decided to try cable internet.
I put my silly self back in the car, went back to THAT store, and dropped a cool hundred bucks for a cable modem and wireless router. I would rather buy the modem than pay rent on one to the cable company, and I gots ta have meh my wireless capability.
I enjoy taking my laptop all over the house to work and out on the deck. Three hours later full of tec support calls, hooking up cables, installing software, and digging out a few choice words I haven't used before(cough...cough) Here I am. It is much faster. But I'm no fool. I'll get used to the speed and new software applications will come out that will make the net crawl for me again. Then new net technology will speed onto the scene and I'll be a dinosaur again.
But until then, I'll enjoy my "cable internet with blazing speed" from my porch swing on the deck until this modem dies, too.
And so, dear internet community, I shall close this simple entry wishing you the brightest blessings and go surf youtube for awhile. Maybe with cable internet the video will match up with the audio and it won't feel like watching badly dubbed karate movies on the internet.
