…that I’ll get the laundry totally caught up.
…that I’ll do one fun thing just for me
…that I’ll tackle one project for fifteen minutes
…that I’ll spend more time out of the house than I spend in the house
…that I’ll be rested, rejuvenated, and recharged by the time the kids get home
…that no matter how stressful the kid re-entry is, I’ll not lose my temper and yell
So, after four kid-free days in a row - how’d I do?
- Laundry caught up - almost. Six loads folded and put away, though! (To be fair, clothes found wadded at the bottom of closets helped pad the dirty clothes piles this week, though…)
- Fun thing for me? Check. An hour and a half chatting with interesting people at my local wine bar was just what I needed last night, for starters.
- Tackling the project? After the three bags of clothes I hauled to Goodwill, the bag of winter clothes I handed off to Dad, and the full bag I took to the resale shop, well - I think I get a gold star, no? Especially after those six loads of laundry all got put into cleaned out dressers and closets…
- However, I failed miserably at the ’spend more time out of the house’ task. Hey, those closets and drawers don’t empty themselves!
- I also get a ‘Bzzzt-sorry!’ for that whole rested and rejuvenated thing. I blame my insomnia for that (and how not fair is it to have insomnia during a kid-free weekend, anyway?)
But that might explain why it only took an hour and forty-three minutes for me to break down and yell at the recalcitrant teenager - right?
