Should I become a foster mom?

I had a rough day yesterday.  I woke up really depressed that my daughter was in France with her dad and stepmom.   Worse, is that  I don't get to see her when she gets back because she's very angry at me and has decided not to see me.  I think being torn between two moms is too much for her.  She depends on her stepmom more than me because stepmom is better at dealing with her mental illness.  She is the kind of kid who really can't deal with a nasty divorce (how many kids can?) so I am the scapegoat.

I am thinking of taking in foster children.  I really miss having a kid around.   Do you think this is a good idea?  I'm not about to have more kids of my own that's for sure (I'm 65) and I think I could help a teenager.  I had a foster child once upon a time and we are still very close.

My daughter has pretty severe mental health problems and she's living with her father and stepmother because they can manage her and I can't.  Over time it's become more and more difficult for her to deal with having two mothers, and two homes that are so different, PLUS, and this is the main reason they have poisoned her against me by their constant criticism of my mothering skills.  Since I can't manage her (she gets very out of control) I'm a bad mother.  She buys that story.  Hopefully some day she'll see the truth and come back.    Very sad situation.
