Frank Arnold of Phoenix was having problems with his divorce. Although he and his estranged wife had come to an agreement on several issues, there were still not close to making a decision on issues like custody. Arnold decided to make the process easier, and hire a hit man.
Arnold began his search in February, but his career as a mortgage broker didn't leave him with any contacts in the right areas. Finally, after months of searching he made a contact: an undercover cop.
The officer, posing as a hit man, met Arnold in a parking lot. Arnold gave the officer $1,500 up front, with a promise to pay $3000 more after the job was complete. "The scary part of this was, he was serious," Sheriff Arpaio said. "The undercover detective said, 'Are you sure?' 'Are you sure?,' trying to give him the chance to back out."
When Arnold got out of the car, 2 deputies arrested him. He probably won't be worrying about custody issues any more.
