car in husband's name only/am I responsible if he doesn't pay

My husband borrowed a tremendous amount of money on the car I drive (somehow...) and I told him to take it.  He is furious wants me to pay the payments.  I will not...am I responsible if he borrowed the money in his name?

he also took my wedding rings..we have been married 9 years.  can he do that legally?

I am pretty sure the rings are gifts and your ring is yours.

You should be safe, santafe.  Since the car is in his name alone and he took out the loan on the car without you being a co-signer, you are in the clear.  There is no marital obligation to pay that debt.

Besides, if you gave him the car back and he doesn't pay, they'll just take the car... who cares? lol

On the wedding rings, I believe the general rule is that once you are married, the ring is a gift from your spouse.  He gets his, you get yours.  States may differ on this though -- you might just check with an attorney.

If the car is in his name and you didn't sign any paperwork on the loan you don't owe anything. I don't know about the wedding rings. Perhaps you should talk to your attorney about the rings.
