Uncontested to Contested divorce

What do I do if my divorce is turning from an uncontested divorce to a contested? If he refuses to sign the marital settlement agreement, what happens now?  I have been filing paper "in pro per", do I need a lawyer now?

Yes, yes a thousand times yes, Ceecee.  Shop around for someone with experience in family law and ask them candidly about fees (lawyers are a dime a dozen so there is still opportunity for fees to be competitive).  Get some good referrals from your local county or state bar association -- the usually have a list of lawyers who practice regularly in certain fields like divorce law.  Also ask friends who have been divorced and see who they might recommend.

Whatever you do, DON'T GO IT ALONE!  Hubby is contesting things precisely because he is likely getting legal advice and will potentially take advantage of the situation if you don't have someone protect you.  Best of luck. :)
