hey there -

figured I'd come to one of your questions to answer the questions you asked me on my journal - (and I'll answer this one too)

first off, you two are going to have to be living in AZ for 90 days prior to being able to file for divorce (it would be longer if you weren't military) file before that and it will be a waste of time and money, it will get thrown out.

now in my journal, you asked about an uncontested divorce - if you are looking to contest it then if he files he has to file fault against you, and then you fight it, how long it goes on is up to you by the games you play, I don't advise it as in this day and age, your divorce is inevitable, fault or not. Otherwise, a no fault divorce, you don't contest - how long it takes depends on if you agree on everything and how backed up the courts there are.

the cost, reallty depends on if you two are going to hire attorneys or not - and of course, if you contest things. It can be as little as around $300 bucks to skyrocketing if you two can't agree.

Joint custody is fine, if he gets the child 50% of the time, he won't have to pay child support, if it is less than 50%, you can apply for child support, it will be based on your incomes and percentage of parenting time. That is something you two will have to work out in mediation. If he is a fit parent, there is a good chance if you two give it to the court to decide if you can't agree, he will get 50% of physical custody and no child support.

you won't get alimony, don't even try for it. You are employed by the government - you aren't eligible.
