i have a question, should i file bankruptcy before i get divorced? see, my wife left and maxed out 3 major credit cards and i do not wish to incur these debts as i benefited nothing at all from them. only the debts did i incur.

if she isn't going to file with you - you would be better off having your attorney argue that any debt incurred on the cards after the date she moved out that you can't verify is yours (if there are any at all) be her sole responsibility.

You get asked if there is a divorce pending - and if anything is questionalbe in property settlement - it won't be allowed to be discharged if you fule for BK alone.

Bankruptcy is only going to make your life more difficult post divorce - you are better off making arrangments with creditors than killing your fico score with a BK.
