confused, to answer your question...absolutely it's normal! Anyone who has had any kind of good in a marriage should feel some level of pain in its loss.
I encourage you to keep trying, but don't do it alone. Get counseling, if nothing else for yourself and your mental health. As a "depressive type" person myself, I needed treatment even before it became obvious that I need to leave. If your spouse will agree to participate in marital counseling, even better.
Get off the roller coaster before you fall out of it. I promise it's the best thing to do :)
