What Was the Best Part of Being Single Again?

We all tend to focus on the worst parts of relationships ending, at least I do. The loneliness, the disappointment, the sense of failure. But there is also an upside. That thing you stopped doing because there wasn't enough time. That music you like that your partner didn't. The extra time for friends and self. What did you find to be the best part of being single again?

As a foodie, I love it that being able to eat what you want when you want is right up there with being able to be yourself!

The best part about being single is eating whatever and whenever we please, my ex was such a picky eater and had to have meat and potatoes every dinner, now we can have breakfast for supper if we want and won't have to look at his turned up nose at it!!  The best part is taking the whole bed, watching whatever I want to on TV and hanging out with my friends whenever I want to.  The best part is being able to sit down and realize who "I" am as a person and an individual, we were married for 17 years so it's always been us as a couple, it's nice to have some quiet time to myself to read, watch tv or listen to the music I like for once!!  Definitely the best part is the money I'm saving because my ex loved to spend money as fast as he made it and he's still doing it now--but this time it's not my money he's spending, it's his money, and I know where my money is--in my bank account where it belongs!!!

The best part of being single again.... spreading out in the entire bed, watching TV at odd hours in the bed, eating whenever, whatever, and with whomever you chose. Not having to come home or check in with anyone. Being able to spend the night at a gal pals house... for the weekend. Not waking up in the middle of the night to his snoring or throwing up from his acid reflux, not having to cook 2 meals since he didn't like fruit, salad, or vegetables. SILENCE, solitude, and sanity.....  but the best part, all of above and the opportunity to laugh with my friends and be myself again.

I felt so similarly, especially the part about being myself and eating breakfast for dinner! In fact, for years it was a tradition with my daughter and me to have breakfast for dinner at least one night a week. It sounds like you are on a good path to happiness!

The best part of being single again (or newly seperated at least) is that I can breathe again.  I can go to sleep when I am tired, make pancakes for dinner, go out with the girls for a glass of wine......take a drive to nowhere while the kids are in school and not have to explain where I am...and most of all, be myself.
