Question

How To Leave?

I have been married for 7 years now and have a beautiful 5 year old girl. For the past several years and maybe longer my wife and I have drifted apart. We rarely are intimate and i have no interest in doing that with her anyways. When she asks why it is hard to tell some one that you don't feel the same connection or attraction anymore and not just physically but emotionally. Alot of things have contributed but last year I left but ended up coming back for my daughters sake. I don't love her anymore but I also don't want to hurt her but I can't stay in a marriage that I am only going to be miserable in. I can already tell my health is declining but I just don't know how to tell her its over for good, especially after I left and came back once already. How can I make this as easy and painless for all of us? Please help.

Personally, I think money and the "stuff" is what makes things get ugly.  Often, someone is hurt and that triggers a "hurt them back" mentality in them....  I dont believe it can be painless, but best way IMO to reduce the stress is to be fair and kind to one another, be direct, dont fight or use your daughter, and try something like collaborative divorce.  Have you considered couples counseling? as a way to start the split? - i dont have first hand experience, but my friend said it made her divorce goes so much easier.  These articles may help: http://www.divorce360.com/collaborative-360.aspx
