Some people are in a hurry to get a divorce and get on with their lives. In some cases, they will cut a few legal corners if it means they can get what they want. A Turkish man and his girlfriend found out that that's not always the best plan.
Wanting to get out of his marriage, the man submitted his divorce paperwork, then had his girlfriend pick up the wife's copy for signing. The girlfriend signed and submitted the paperwork. When the wife didn't show for the court date, the husband was awarded custody of their son.
When his wife found out what happened she filled for the divorce to be annulled. The court found the couple guilty, and sentenced the man and his girlfriend to 3 years in prison for fraud. As for the wife's petition for anullment, she's still waiting on a decision.
