I have never heard of a waiting period. Usually, the seperation is up to you. In California, people get divorces like they get new shoes. There is no time limit on anything from seperation to divorce. Call your local court house or a legal aide office and ask if there is such a law.

some states require a yr while others like Idaho don't require any waiting period. You can probably check online to get the answers for your particular state
