Marriage and all the work to make one work

Am I really supposed to be working on a "Marriage" I really thought that then when two people loved each other, they want their marriage to work and it really doesn't exhaust one of the partners. I am at the point now that I have tried everything that I can to make my marriage work and It hasn't improved at all. I have only been married for less than one year and its been a horrible one at that. I dated him for too long that I guess he thought our marriage would be like when we dated. He was so wrong. Any suggestions?
