Would You Go Back to Church for a Divorce?

Different cultures approach divorce differently. Some, like Hindi India, don't even have a word that means "divorce." The Protestant Church Of Switzerland wants couples to come in for a divorce ceremony.

The church is offering divorce ceremonies because, "Sometimes there is no other solution but to separate. In such situations it is important to make the divorce as amicable as possible for the couple so that they can begin a new chapter in their lives," says pastor Frank Worbs.

It's also about expressing how, like a marriage, the couple isn't the only ones affected: family, children, and close friends are impacted when a marriage falls apart. The ceremony is meant to help everybody move on.

If it was offered in the United States would you attend, or would it be too much pain and not enough closure?

I would not attend. I did get my pastors approval before I filed for divorce but a ceremony. I don't think so!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!  I didn't want to go to the court house with him to get a divorce, I certainly wouldn't go back to a church for one.  Would we invite the newly acquired "girlfriend" and her family to be a part of the ceremony?  Who's responsibility would it be to supply police protection because I can tell you my brothers, if they would even come, would rather beat the #*%@ out of my ex.  They haven't yet, because I asked them to just let it go.  TOO MUCH PAIN AND NO CLOSURE.  Wait a minute, could we order another cake?
