At what age does the children have to fly alone on an airplane. My soon to be ex, stated he will be relocating to another state and wants the children ( age 6 with a speech and o.t. problem and, age 9 with I.B.S. and aniexty seperation) to fly alone after aprox. 4 trips of being accompied by him.

children as young as 5 are able to fly unaccompanied on airplanes as all large carriers also have "unaccompanied minor service" where the children are in the care of an airline attendant the entire flight, from drop off to pick up.

the medical/emotional issues you stated, won't change the fact the kids will end up flying alone.

i know that most airlines will not let a child fly by themselves under the age of twelve. I wanted to send kids to Canada for the summer, and I have to go with them.  But this is international flying.  I think it is up to the airlines and their policies
