What to Do If You See Your Ex Hit Your Child?

A friend of mine called me very upset today. Her 15 year old son has gotten in some trouble for grafitti on a public bus. She and her ex were at court with him today. While they were waiting to see the judge, her son made some stupid comments to someone that was being loud and her ex hit him several times. As she described it, he actually punched him 3 times. She told her ex he should leave, but now she is really worried that this is happening on a regular basis when their son is with his dad. What do people do when they see their ex hitting their children?

then she should have gotten someone - you don't sit back and say, oh well - no cop was around. chos or no chaos, her non action makes no sense.

You see abuse, you report it, immediately.

Nope, at this court, they were in a waiting room and there were absolutely no authorities in there. My friend and I were both shocked by this and one of the things we were discussing is what would have happened if anyone with a badge had seen her ex do this. She said the court waiting room was total chaos.

I have a very hard time believing this story as there are police and court authorites all over the place and if anyone had seen it happen, the ex would have been arrested on the spot.
