military divorce with party overseas

how do you divorce when one party is military and overseas on deployment??

There were two people who posted recently and said that they had done this. I think SCRA can delay things, but i dont think it eliminates all divorces while on active duty.....

I agree with Tato, great advice. There are also many articles on this website about this very situation. I will do some research and try and send them to you. Hang in there!

The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act protects an active duty member of the armed forces from civil suit. The time periods, or “statutes of limitations,” affecting the civil actions are either suspended or extended, so that your spouse can devote his or her energies to the defense of the country without worrying about civil actions, including divorce. If the divorce is uncontested, your spouse can waive his or her rights to the relief under this act. This is very normal procedure. You may want to contact his/her base in the US to find out more how to proceed... but basically the process is kind of frozen till the deployment finishes
