Would You Pay For Your Spouse's Cosmetic Surgery in a Divorce Settlement?

The Wisconsin court of Appeals overturned a Lincoln County Circuit Judges decision in a divorce case.  The original decision left the wife, Darese Schneider, to pay $33,592 in credit card debt.

The circuit courts decision was based on an agreement signed by both parties two months before the divorce was filed.  Darese built up the debt when she received non-essential elective cosmetic surgery without telling her husband.  She says she signed the agreement under duress.

The appellate court found that the husband didn't address her argument, and therefore sent the case back down to circuit court for a retrial.  It does make you wonder how $33,000 in cosmetic surgery could go unnoticed.  Maybe that's why they're getting a divorce in the first place.
