name change

if you ask for a name change in your divorce and you don't change it on all legal papers what rights does the other party have against you.%0d%0aexample:after divorce I was suppose to change my name and refinance home.I never did...What happens eight years later and another marriage later?can you help

It depends how the title is heald and what state you live in. When I say how it is helad, I mean what does it day after your names on the Deed and the Mortgage? I have alot of experience in this field in Florida. But not every state is the same. I would be happy to help you if I can.

you don't have to change your name if you don't want, and your ex can't make you. it's your choice.  as for the refi, if that is in your documents, you have to do it...but usually that is tied into getting his name off the mortgage...so that needs to happen.
