Questions regarding my home

I am divorcing my husband and i want to keep our house. but i cant afford it. will i get my stbx to pay for it since i wasnt planning on divorce. my credit sucks and i will not be able to buy my own home! what do you do regarding this problem?? i dont want to lose my house..my kids home...becuase he turned out to be a cheating loser!!
ps..i pay all the utilities..he pays the mortgage

every state has different laws about this, but it usually ends up being 50/50...meaning everything, debts, assets, get split up 50/50 ish. the courts don't care who pays what bills, they do care if you are able to afford your home though. usually the house gets sold and the profits get split. is your name on the deed?
