is there a minimum time one must be married to receive maintenance or are there specific qualifications in Missouri to be eligible to receive

I have been married for 9 years, raising my husband's child, age 11, gave up career to stay home to do so.  My husband has taken control of all marital assets and financial decisions and we are contemplating divorce.  Other than staying married 10 to get to the social security benefits are there any other things I should be aware of?

Mike is right... it depends on your State laws and you may want to check at the Information Center and find out what it says there. Good luck.
