Community property

I need and want the computer. I took it to my new home. He is threatening to have me arrested for stealing it. Can he do that? Where am I protected by the community property law?

He can't have you arrested but tell him to go ahead and call the police anyway. You should never discourage someone from displaying their stupidity publicly. Especially as soon to be ex.

As for the computer,  you give him something of equal value in the property settlement or you take equal value in community debt.
