What Did You Do With Your Wedding Ring(s)?

A recent question regarding the appropriateness of "wedding ring coffins" piqued my curiosity. I'm wondering what those of you in the Divorce 360 community have done with your wedding jewelry since your divorce.

I have an aunt who had her rings melted down and recast with the diamonds into a pendant. My mom's best friend had the stones removed from her rings and set into an onyx cocktail ring. My best friend threw hers into the ocean in an impromptu ceremony to celebrate her newfound freedom. Another friend of mine still wears his but switched it over to his right hand. Why continue wearing the ring? He says he really likes it. He picked it out himself and contributed to its purchase. He doesn't see why the marriage ending should force him to give up his most prized accessory.

My rings sit in a jewelry box gathering dust along with my high school ring and the other jewelry I never wear. Every time I come across the rings, I think of hocking them. But that would require finding a pawn shop, and that sounds too complicated for me at the moment. I posted the diamonds on eBay shortly after our split, but without appraisal certificates, I didn't get any takers. So they continue to sit there, waiting for me to get up the gumption to do something.
