It depends on each state.  I live in NE and as of January 1, 2008, it is now required by law that both parents attend a state approved parenting class if thre are getting a divorce and have children.

On a very strange note, one of the main reasons I have thought about divorce in my situation was because I have asked my husband for years to learn other parenting techniques (it is one of our biggest issues in our marriage) but he always refuses...so if I file for divorce (even if other things go well and we stop the proceedings later), he has to, by law go to parenting classes.  Sad to go to extremes, huh?

Again, check with your state laws, which you can find links to on this site and good luck!
