Just a quick couple of questions please

I have not seen/heard from him in over 15 years.
I want a divorce now.  I live in another state and have paperwork ready.
I just don't know what to do first.
Do I put the add in the paper & in which state?
What do I file first?
No kids, property or anything else between us.
Thank you.

Flagirl is right... before publishing you need to show that you tried other ways before... usually newspapers should be able to provide you with templates that you can use to write you own add. Good luck.

Your attorney should know what you need to do in your state to file for divorce based on abandonment. If you can't afford one, your county clerk's office should be able to tell you. You'll probably have to make a good faith effort by tracking your spouse through a relative, the post office and his last forwarding address and publication in the newspaper of record where you know he last lived. As part of that effort, you should keep times/dates/names of people you spoke with for your attorney and the courts. Best of luck.
