Abusive and Controlling Husband

I'm divorcing my husband. I have been with him 8 years. He is verbally abusive and scares me to death. Especially when he started asking me about my life insurance. I have left him and he will not let me have any of my personal belongings. We have 4 automobles: 2 titled to him and 2 titled to me. He also will not let my have the ones titled to me. My question is: Is he allowed to keep all the automobiles? He is also drawing disability. Can I go after anything from that standpoint? Thank you.

I'm dealing with a very controlling and verbally abusive ex as well. I did get one car. I'm still able to live in the house, but everything else he's still controlling. Our bank accout, our 2 kids, and how the divorce will go. When I've asked (like today) for our tax return to give to my attorney, he said he wouldn't just hand over any documents. He'd make copies of what he thinks I'll need and give them to me. Also, if I don't take my son to his baseball games when I have him, he'll take me to court. For what? I don't know. It's very frustrating.

if the titles are in your name, there is no reason he should be able to keep them. call an attorney in your area. you should be able to find a way to get your cars back. as far as disability, i can't see why you'd have a claim unless there are children. again, i'd talk with an attorney who would know more.
