Separation in SC

I was wanting to find out about filing for a legal seperation in South Carolina.  I have heard that there really is no such thing, that it's a separation of matience.  And a friend of mine who got a separation in another state next to sc was able to file separation papers with the stipulation that they can act like they are already divorced ex. dating, money management, etc. But heard that I can't do that in SC. Does anyone know?

If you go to the home page and look under information center and your state, you can get the web site to your state's divorce laws. This is information about separation as grounds for a divorce on the site. I'd suggest taking a look and then talking to an attorney.
