Counseling befor Divorce

I am in a unique situation.  I have fallen in love with a married woman, and she has fallen in love with me too.  She hasn't been happy in her marriage and knows it will never be what she wants.  Anyway, after being together, and knowing what we have is real, she has filed for divorce.  Now, she has informed me that the attorney is requiring her and her husband to go to marriage counseling.  In CA, can courts require a couple to go through counseling before a divorce?  And if so, is there a minimum amount of time that the couple must go to it?  And does anyone have advice for what I could do in the meantime?  Neither, me nor her want to be seperate from each other.

im no lawyer, but counseling is pretty common - so is a waiting period.  She is probably 6 mo from getting actually divorced (from the date of legal separation, i believe.  Sacramento has a good website:  http://www.saccourt.com/family/divorce/divorce.asp . hope it helps!
