How do you divorce your best friend? Happily Ever After??

My ex-husband, and our teenaged daughter, and I co-wrote about about staying family after divorce. We're an average family, had it all, but just surviving, not living joyously. We were married for seventeen years, been divorced over seven. Adultery, second marriage, death of that spouse, and numerous people telling us what we were doing, staying family, was wrong!!! We were confusing our child!!! Well, she is darn good at 15, knows we are both there for her, in sickness, health, hard times and good times... we are family, just not married. These days, what is a normal family? We wrote a book and I'm making a web-series on it called ABNORMALLY NORMAL... it's raw truth about what really happens behind closed doors and how recovery was not just survived, but how we eventually thrived from the re-potting into a new soil, a new definition, a new life. It's not easy, or very pretty sometimes, but heck, family isn't always easy or pretty, right? We offer our story to you. If you have an inspiring story to share of encouragement to other families going through their own transition... SHINE THE LIGHT!

I think it's great that you are able to still be a family and a better one after a divorce.  Thanks for your insight!

I think that the way your divorce situation was handled, especially with a child, was such a mature decision. It's really encouraging to hear that such an "awful" event such as a divorce, really can be the most productive and positive solution to a difficult and painful situation.

Inspiring! Sometimes it is better for the children when the parents live apart. Life was meant to be experienced and we all deserve to live joyously!

It sounds like if that is what is working for your family than more power to you. Sometimes people get along and are much happier as a family not all living together, and that's ok.
