Taking children out of state

Hello, My parenting plan does not address if I want to take my kids out of state for Xmas. My x is going to have a fit. Do I have to get his approval before doing it? I do have the time according to my parenting plan. So do I need his approval or just let him know?

You have to notify him, and you have to give him an itinerary, travel information and out of state contact info at least 10 days prior to going. If you are flying, he must be given the flight number, times, airline etc.

He will have the right to go to court to try to stop you from taking them out of state.

In Missouri, the parenting plan has a section about notification to the other parent if the child leaves the metro area - you're sure there's nothing like that addressed in your parenting plan?

If there isn't, and it's your time with your child, I would think then as long as you make notification, you'd be ok.

BUT check with an attorney first!!

Good luck -
