unreimbursed medicals

My ex seems to think he can pick and choose what medicals he can reimburse me for.  I have took him to court and have six court orders for him to pay.  I finally had him arrested for arrearages for unpaid medical.  I do not understand why he will not pay for something he has agreed to in our property and settlement agreement.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  I am so sick of going to court to get my money.

You would not believe this but the ex is actually paying me the money he owes me.  Not in all one sum but installments.  That is a start.  He claims he cannot attend counseling when we have it scheduled due to his school schedule but would be willing to go on another day.  I wrote him and said as long as he keeps his word and makes payments I am ok with that.  In terms of counseling with our children I have offered him other alternatives.  He also wrote to the judge to say he was having trouble complying with the court order so I wrote to the judge myself and explained the situation and ask if the judge would recommend the parties entering into a consent order agreeing to said terms that way if he violates that I have some recourse and I probably will be in a better position if I need to make a motion to enforce.

I think he is finally getting it that I will always prevail on the medical and educational expenses and counseling.  I think he just gave up going to court cause he knows I am in the legal field and know what I am talking about and he says the stupist things to the judge.

Well, I just got back the order from the judge and my ex is ordered to pay me $900 in 15 days.  His motion was denied in its entirety.  He was also ordered to go to counseling.  Now I have to wait and see if he complies which I doubt, so he will go back to jail again, he must like it in there. LOL

I think like you, your ex would love for you to give up, then he does not have to pay.
I have a friend that her ex does this to her. What she does, when she gets a bill she sends a certified letter, letting him know how much he owes. Then once a year they go to court. It has been three years in a row now and the judge was really upset this last time. She does not even have to get a lawyer, she fills out the papers, gets on the docket, takes her divorce papers, and the certified letters. It is a pain but she will not give up and that is what he is hoping she will do.

i went through that for a long time too. my ex did not want to pay for any dental or medical bills. so when he took me to court to try and take my kids away, i gladly went and also wanted to get my money back that he owed me.. well i won but not after 15 thousand dollars later.. my ex is an ass too..just keep taking him back to court. he sounds very stubborn..like my ex

Thank your for your commit.  I feel the same way, but our legal systems stinks and I am stubborn about getting my money for our children.  I think he feels I will give up eventually but I will not when it comes to our children and he should know that.  Soon enough, I will be on a first name basis with the judge...LOL

What a fucker. I really hope that some judge finally knocks some sense into him and teaches him a lesson.

I did have him arrested and his bail money was turned over to me for arrearages for unpaid medicals. He actually made a motion recently to have me return the money but the judge we were before denied his request.  Once again, he owes me medicals and I made another motion which is pending because he did not reply, so hopefully I will prevail and the judge again will let me file a warrant ex parte.

It seems to me like you have two choices - keep taking him to court or give up on getting the money.  You ex sounds really stubborn, and may think that you'll give up eventually.  If he keeps ignoring the order, why hasn't he been thrown in jail?
