Now's he's texting me telling me that I should be happy because he told his gf that he couldn't see here anymore. What is he trying to pull?

You should be happy? haha!!  Tell him you would've been happy if he had not ever got with any 'girlfriend' and tried to work on the marriage.

Well, I think the ball will be in your court but before making any hasty decision (like jumping in bed/reconciling) make sure it's something you can handle. 

If he's going to be the oldest "child" then no.

He is trying to keep you on the hook.  You know better than to put up with that at this point.  Tell him you agree and wait for the begging to begin.  You are going to do well.
