My husband ordered a deposition on me in which I sat for over 4 hours and answered useless questions that I would have been more than happy to share with him without the lawyer expenses.  His lawyer stopped the deposition and requested a 4 way settlement.  We met last week and I had to again sit an additional 3 hours answering financial questions in which my husbands has subpenoa all the documents.  I finally asked for a figure by Monday then we can try to settle.  What are my next steps since neither myself nor my lawyer have receive any proposals?

At this point I am just going to let the chips fall where the land, I have come to the conclusiong that just being free of this  person is relief of in itself.  Whatever the judge say, then that is what I will be going with...I will not let him call the shot on my life anymore.  I am beginning to believe that what goes around comes around.  I just want to be free!!!

I've read your other posts, and I think I've actually advised you before that it doesn't matter that you packed up (actually, wait, I think you said you sold most of your things) and moved your life to be married to the guy, you aren't going to be entitled to much being in such a short term marriage.

The court doesn't "right" your own "wrongs". Meaning they won't force him to pay you any significant amount of money (if any at all with the exception of the split of marital assets) just because you probably jumped too soon into a marriage and didn't ensure your own financial stability.

You are better off getting an attorney, and having a mediation with your stbx to try to see if he will settle with you and give you money to get back to Ohio. (he doesn't have to)

Be it in taking your chance with the judge, or settling with him, it won't be the large amount you are hoping for. Couple thousand - MAYBE.

As far as the grounds, doesn't really matter what they are - if someone wants a divorce, they will get one....even if they stretch the truth to get there.

Can you be more specific as to what you want to know about irreconcilable difference with contest issues?
