Pregnant during seperation/divorce

My now ex got pregnant by another man during the process of our divorce, but I did not find out till this week. Someone told me that we should not have been granted a divorce until after the child was born regardless of who fathered it. Is this true, and if so what do I do about it?

I was aksed on the stand during my divorce whether or not I was pregnant.  I wish they would ask the men if they are, too, I mean, just to be fair.  Pregnancy usually involves two people, but times are a-changing.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. This whole situation has been a double edged sword. The fact that within two months of my leaving she moved this man into the house and managed to get pregnant, when we had always been so careful and wanted to wait till the time was right, really called into doubt our entire relationship, which has been extremely painful. The flip side is I have closure, in that she has completely moved on, so now its my turn.

Remember due dates are just guesstimations and can change based on the fetus development. So it may not be a matter of being "honest" or not on her part. The first due date given is based on when she says her last period was....

Thanks Spaz, for all the help you have given me and everyone else on here.
As far as the baby goes, if she is being truthful about the due date (late November) then I am positive its not mine. If the baby is born sooner, I may have to get a test done. I will let you know.

No you shouldn't have, but if you were divorced before it was born you have two choices:

a) if you are 100% certain and positive the child can not possibly be yours - do nothing.

b) if you have any doubts that child might be yours, you need to see an attorney to have a paternity test done....
