best way to do taxes 1st. year

barring unforseen events,my stbx and i will be divorced 9/11.This will be more than half the yr.Any ideas on how we would file our taxes?

thank you for the info.we also owe back taxes for 2008 yr.reason is because i was collecting unemployment and I took out my 401K and pension.Any ideas on the back taxes we owe(3000.00)Split evenly?I will be able to qualify for head/household and earned income credit because I an currently unemployed.also planning on attending tech college with the help of government aid.Any answers to this would be greatly appreiciated.Thanks.

If you get divorced anytime in year, you are considered divorced for the whole year (same with marriage pertaining to taxes).  If everything will be complete in Sept. 2009, I would personally file separately.
